St. Mary’s student diagnosed with meningitis

Because meningitis can become serious quickly, officials from the school contacted medical professionals and Contra Costa Health Services immediately.

[...] county health officials recommended that anyone who experiences symptoms of the infection — which include high fever, severe headaches, rash, body aches, nausea, sensitivity to light and confusion — seek medical attention immediately.

Because lab tests were unable to determine what made the St. Mary’s student ill, however, public health officials said no further action was necessary Tuesday evening.
